The Outreach Plan:

The best military bases to target for recruitment into the Frontline to Lineman program are those with concentrations of combat arms and combat support military occupational specialties (MOS). These include infantry, field artillery, military police, transportation, mechanics, engineering, and communications. Example target bases would be:

  • Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri: Military Police, Engineers- Occupations in engineering, construction, and electrical work.

  • Camp Pendleton, California - Navy SEALs, Construction Battalions (SeaBees) - Occupations in engineering, construction, and electrical work.

  • Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington - Special Forces, Engineers, Airborne - Occupations in engineering, construction, and electrical work.

  • Fort Hood, Texas - Special Forces, Engineers - Occupations in engineering, construction, and electrical work.

  • Fort Bliss, Texas - Combat Engineers - Occupations in engineering, construction, and electrical work.

  • Fort Campbell - Special Forces, Engineers, Airborne - Occupations in engineering, construction, and electrical work.

We will coordinate with education/transition offices on each base for permission to set up information sessions, career fairs, and aptitude testing events. To build awareness, we will distribute marketing materials such as brochures and posters showcasing the benefits and career potential of the lineworker trade. We will highlight the connection between the technical skills built in military specialties and civilian energy/telecom jobs.

The occupations at these bases encompass various military specialties, from frontline combat roles to logistical and support functions. Many of the skill sets learned in these roles, such as teamwork, problem-solving, working under pressure, and leadership, which aligns seamlessly with the qualifications sought after in the lineman profession.
